Beavers are the youngest section of the Scout Association which was founded by Robert Baden-Powell in 1907. The Beaver Scout section was formed in 1982 it was open to boys aged between 6 and 8 years due to the growing demand for a younger age group within the Scouting Movement. In 1991 girls could also join and become Beaver Scouts. As a recognised training section they take part in a full and balanced programme working towards Challenge and Activity Badges, developing good habits of health and personal safety, exploring the local community and the wider world they live in.
When a Beaver reaches the age of 8 they have the opportunity to move on to Cubs
